Hosting guests in Nairobi

 Dear you

I'm sorry if you've had to sleep less, work some more or spend some so much more..

Hosting in Nairobi or any other urban place is not for the faint hearted. Whether you are hosting a friend, relative, missioner or colleague.  At the end of the day, there is a stranger in the house and adjustments have to be made.

Bless you if you are well off financially, you can afford that extra milk, meat, bread, fruit, vegetable, drink etc the carbs we can easily manage. I can't forget electricity because this generation is online 24/7, showers twice a day and uses energy to cook, wash clothes etc

Bless you if you have a house manager, who will deal with the cooking, serving and cleaning after the guests.

You are even more blessed if you have a job so you don't spend the whole day at home with your 'hostee' because it can be stressful.

If you are newly wed, or have no children, then it become baptism by fire because of space sharing, interference and the work etc

Its hard to stand up to a guests and ask them to behave. However, I feel this is the best way to deal with it so that the relationship is not strained. There should be clear communication on expectations and responsibilities to avoid inconveniencing anyone.... What do you think?
